I read Happy Money many years ago, and since then, it has been one of the most important books in shaping my relationship with money and wealth. Unlike most books about money that focus on making or saving more, Ken Honda talks about something deeper. He explains that money carries energy, and the way we think about it can bring either peace or stress into our lives.
The idea for Happy Money started when a wealthy businessman asked Honda a simple but powerful question. He said, “Is your money happy or unhappy?” This made Honda realize that some people feel joy and gratitude when they earn and spend money, while others feel anxious and trapped by it. He wrote a small pamphlet about this idea, and it became so popular that it turned into this book.
One of the lessons that really stood out to me was Honda’s idea of true wealth. Many people believe wealth is just about having a lot of money, but he explains that it is also about relationships and support. He gives the example that if he lost all his money but had 52 good friends, he could stay with one friend each week for a year while rebuilding his life. This made me think about how real wealth is not just about money but also about the people we can count on.
Honda also teaches that money is always changing. Most of us see money as paper bills, but things like cryptocurrency show that money is really just energy. It flows in and out of our lives. When we treat it with gratitude and generosity, it moves more freely.
Happy Money is not just a book about finances. It is a book about mindset. If you have ever felt stressed about money, this book will help you see it in a new way—one filled with peace, trust, and abundance.
