A few years ago, I picked up Believe It by Jamie Kern Lima without knowing much about her. I don’t even remember how I found the book, but I’m so glad I did.
I always talk about how women build legacy differently than men. We often work behind the scenes, making a big impact without needing recognition. But I’ve also learned that to inspire other women, we need to speak up—just in a way that feels natural to us, not by acting like men. Jamie does exactly that.
As the founder and CEO of IT Cosmetics, she shares her journey—the challenges, the setbacks, and the moments that could have stopped her completely. She wasn’t what the beauty industry considered the "right look," and because of her weight, she was denied many opportunities. But she didn’t give up. She believed in her product and, more importantly, in herself.
If you need inspiration to start a business, overcome obstacles, or find your own value, I highly recommend this book. I also suggest getting the audiobook—Jamie reads it herself, and you can feel the passion in her voice.
