Love Looks Like Costco on a Sunday

This morning, I was laughing with a friend about how a man shows he loves a woman when he willingly goes to Costco with her on a Sunday. We were joking—but then I paused and thought… actually, there’s something deeper here.

Because let’s be real—Costco (or the mall, or Target, or wherever your weekend ritual takes you) isn’t just about running errands. It’s a mirror of love in motion.

When a man takes time out of his weekend to go shopping with his partner, it’s not just “being nice”—it’s quality time. That’s love language number one. Then maybe he buys her something small—a candle, a favorite snack, that random kitchen gadget she mentions in passing. That’s receiving gifts. Another love language.

While they’re walking, he might say, “You look beautiful today,” or “I love doing this with you.” Words of affirmation. That’s three. He carries the heavy box, pushes the cart, or unloads everything at home without being asked—acts of service. Four.

And somewhere in there, he probably reaches for her hand, kisses her forehead, or wraps an arm around her. Physical touch.

All five love languages, in one trip to Costco.

Sometimes we think love has to be this grand gesture, some epic romantic story. But love often hides in the ordinary. In the mundane. In the moments that don’t look like much—until you look again.

So maybe next time you're walking through the aisles together, slow down and smile. There’s love in that cart.
